In the month of August, Moldovan companies will benefit from free American consultancy on performance-oriented agriculture and market penetration methods

August 3, 2011

Two U.S. experts will visit Moldova in the month of August in order to provide free consultancy on innovative agriculture and market penetration methods. The assistance will be provided voluntarily with the support of the Farmer-to-Farmer Program, implemented in our country by the USAID-funded organization CNFA.

Professor Tom Cadwallader is an extension agent at the University of Wisconsin, specializing in agricultural and business development, who will provide assistance to the INAGRO Scientific and Technologic Park of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, from August 14 to August 31.

The expert will assess resident farmers’ activity, strategies to increase their performance, and INAGRO’s progress in the last two years since its establishment. His evaluation report will include recommendations to improve the services provided by INAGRO to the resident farmers, as well as suggestions for increasing the residents’ number.

Moreover, Jim Valentine, processing, packaging, and marketing expert, will provide consultancy to the TAI-NA company from Chişinău, in the period of August 17-September 2. The consultancy will be focused on package design development for export-oriented soy dips and marinades. Moreover, the expert will train the company employees on implementing effective marketing campaigns, destined for attracting customers and penetrating new markets. The volunteer’s assistance is focused on establishing premises for product expansion both for the TAI-NA company and the ingredient-supplier companies which deliver inputs for soy dips and marinade production.

The FtF assistance is focused on dairy, fruit, and vegetable production and processing; it is provided to host organizations, as well as to farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses which apply for consultancy during the volunteers’ stay in Moldova.

CNFA is an organization for international development from USA, established in 1985, which is dedicated to increasing rural incomes by empowering farmers and rural entrepreneurs. CNFA activity is focused on agricultural development based on initiatives to facilitate market access, enhance agribusiness competitiveness, increase productivity, and improve access to inputs and finance for businesses. CNFA has a successful track record of performance in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, and has managed over $200 million in donor-funded agriculture development programs over the past decade. In the Republic of Moldova, CNFA is currently implementing the five-year Farmer-to-Farmer Program, worth $2.5 million, and has recently concluded the $12 million-worth Agribusiness Development Program.
