Press Release: The USAID Agribusiness Development Project launches EXPORT MOLDOVA: a Market Information System to support Moldovan Fruit and Vegetable producers (http://export.acsa.md/)

The USAID Agribusiness Development Project (ADP) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the National Agency for Rural Development (ACSA), and the Union of Agricultural Producers (UAP) will hold a press conference to launch EXPORT MOLDOVA: a Market Information System (MIS) for Moldovan Fruit and Vegetable growers.

EXPORT MOLDOVA: a free-of-charge, web-based MIS will be important tool for Moldovan agricultural companies preparing for entry or expanding their presence on foreign markets. EXPORT MOLDOVA will provide local agricultural producers with updated information on export markets; fruit and vegetable varieties in demand; packaging options and suppliers; EU Marketing (Quality) requirements; and tariff rates for fresh products, as well as links to other producer's sites worldwide and international and regional prices. EXPORT MOLDOVA users will also be able to access market reports and studies provided by the Agribusiness Development Project. Equally important, international importers seeking to do business with Moldovan agribusinesses can easily access contact information and product lists for Moldovan fruit and vegetable exporters and processors.

Mass-media representatives are invited to the press launch on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 10.00am, Conference Hall at MAFI.

Launched in June 2004, ADP provides business consulting services and technical assistance to farmers, local growers and processors to improve the export competitiveness of Moldova's high-value agricultural sector and increase rural incomes and employment opportunities.
