Seminar on new version of EurepGAP standards held by Agribusiness Development Project in Chisinau

July 9, 2007

Twenty Moldovan agribusiness managers and consultants were trained in the new issues on implementing EurepGAP version 3.0-Mar07 requirements, organized by Agribusiness Development Project in Chisinau on July 6, 2007. EurepGAP is a quality and food safety management system falling under the concept of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). Increasingly, European food retailers accept only products originated from EurepGAP-certified producers. Companies that implement these requirements have more chances to successfully export agricultural products to European Union markets.

The seminar introduced EurepGAP Version 3.0-Mar07 new issues and was conducted by Andrei Cumpanici, ADP Food Safety and Quality Management Coordinator. Since February 2006 when ADP started the EurepGAP training program, 643 agribusiness managers and consultants were trained in EurepGAP requirements implementation.

With support from ADP, the Moldovan fresh fruits exporter Codru-ST Ltd became in December 2006 the first company in the Community of Independent States (CIS) to receive the EUREPGAP® certificate.
