Press Release: Moldovan Table Grape Growers and Exporters create an Association with ADP support

April 22, 2008

April 22, 2008: For immediate release

The Agribusiness Development Project will organize a ceremony to launch officially the Table Grape Growers and Exporters Association. The event will be held at the State Chancellery Hall (79 Mateevici str., Chisinau) on April 23 starting at 11:00. The Table Grape Growers and Exporters Association (TGGEA) was established in February 2008 at the initiative of eleven Moldovan table grape producers with the support of ADP. By delegating marketing and promotion to the association, the member companies will be able to create a single brand for their produce and to supply larger quantities under export contracts. The association will also support scientific studies, training, and research that contributes to the sustainable development of the sector.

A producers and exporters association will provide growers with the organizational structure to act as a single voice to improve quality and to promote competitive packaging and marketing strategies. This approach is well developed in the EU and it is expected that this new Association will enable Moldovan table grape growers to better meet future domestic and export market demands for high-quality fresh products.

The ceremony to officially launch the TGGEA will be attended by its members, representatives of the Government, NGO’s, private companies, associations, international donors, and the mass media. Journalists interested in attending are requested to notify Ion Grosu, ADP Public Affairs Specialist, by e-mail – igrosu@moldova.cnfa.org or phone – 577930.
