ADP helps Moldovan farmers implement environment-safe irrigation August 15, 2008 Moldovan farmers often ignore the environment protection in agriculture works. One common mistake is using water for irrigation from ponds, which has increased salinity. After a while soil irrigated with salty water loses its fertility and needs very expensive treatment to be recovered. Other cases of misunderstanding the environmental aspects of irrigation have to do with ignoring the landscape and provoking erosion and marsh creation. ADP implemented in 2008 a program of trainings aimed at increasing awareness of local farmers to environment protection and good agricultural practices.
