With CNFA support, four companies from the Republic of Moldova are being provided with international food safety certificates December 15, 2009
The "Farmer to Farmer" program, implemented by CNFA Inc., in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, will hold a Certification Ceremony for the award of three GLOBALG.A.P. (EUREPGAP) certificates and one ISO 22000 certificate to the companies "Victor Scutaru" farm, Podgoreni LLC, Agrodenidan LLC, and the joint stock company "Prometeu T". The event will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 11:00am, at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. GLOBALG.A.P.® is a food safety standard required by exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables entering major European Union export markets. Known previously as EUREPGAP®. GLOBALG.A.P. standard is designed to ensure and demonstrate that food safety requirements have been implemented and maintained by the grower. The standard was written by the Association of Major European Retailers and is recognized by growers worldwide. All the three companies have implemented the GLOBALG.A.P. requirements with permanent consultancy provided by the ADP specialists. The four producers and exporters will receive the international food safety certificates from SGS Moldova – a certification body.
The food safety management system ISO 22000 (HACCP), is based on scientific research and systematic approach to identification, assessment and control of hazards during processing, preparation and use of food. The system was developed to ensure that food does not present a risk to consumers’ health. The ISO 22000 certificate will be handed to the joint stock company "Prometeu T", a walnut and dried fruit processor.
All the four companies have implemented strict certification requirements benefiting from permanent consulting services, provided by the CNFA/ADP specialists. Representatives of the business community, employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and mass media will attend this event.

The "Farmer to Farmer" Project is a five-year program, implemented by CNFA Inc., an American non-profit organization. The program was launched in the year 1999 and prolonged in the years 2004 and 2009. It provides business consulting services and technical assistance on a voluntary basis to the local farmers, growers and processors in order to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and to increase the employment opportunities and the population income.
